Day 2: Attack of the Cool-a-Tron

 Monday, July 11, 2011

So for the past several weeks at work, something has been a little off with our air conditioning. Some rooms are freezing, while others reach nearly 90 degrees by mid afternoon despite multiple fans and other efforts to cool them down. It's been rough, especially when your job is to run around being energetic and motivating to young kids! To make matters worse, we currently have three pregnant women who are feeling miserable enough as it is. Unfortunately, replacing our faulty AC unit will cost over ten grand, so as a temporary fix three large portable air conditioning systems were installed in our clinic today. They suck warm air from the ceiling, cool it, and shoot it out of these awkward flexible tubes. Much fun and hilarity ensued:

As you can see, they look like giant robots! "Danger Will Robinson" anyone? We named the one in the Speech office the Cool-a-Tron ("Coolio" for short) and fitted him with his very own Transformers helmet. My coworkers and I spent a good 10-15 minutes taking pictures with it. Even though these things were bulky and loud, and they caused several power outages throughout the day, it was totally worth it.

After work I ventured to Gloria's for a friend and coworker's birthday celebration. Happy Birthday Renalie! I am thrilled to have been a part of your special day :) Great food and spending time with these lovely ladies was a great way to end the day.
